Following his first call-up in January, Zendejas was certain about his international career and declined the opportunity to play for Mexico.

Despite being eligible to switch to the Mexican National Team by submitting the necessary paperwork to FIFA, the 25-year-old ultimately chose not to.

According to reports, Zendejas would apply for Mexican representation only if he received confirmation of a World Cup spot from then-coach Gerardo Martino.

However, Zendejas has since clarified that he never made such demands and that his family played a significant role in his decision-making process.
