At the time, Hilton was struggling to understand her sexuality and desperately wanted to appear mature in front of her older boyfriend.

She wanted to feel like a woman who was comfortable in her own skin. Salomon threatened to find someone else to make the tape if Hilton didn't agree to do it.

To let her guard down, Hilton used alcohol and Quaaludes, and she admits that she felt like she needed to prove something to Salomon and herself.

She says that she got "hammered" and made the tape. Years later, in 2003, Hilton found out that the tape had been leaked online.
