The Tennessee singer chose to release the first single from her upcoming album "Endless Summer Vacation" on January 13.

Her fans feel that "Flower" bears similarities to the song "When I Was Your Man" by Bruno Mars.

Some fans have speculated that Hemsworth dedicated the song Mars to Cyrus after their first engagement in 2013 — though those theories are still unconfirmed.

In "When I Was Your Man", Mars sings that he wishes he could "buy you flowers and hold your hand."

Although Mars is not credited as a sampler on the song, Cyrus sings the same tune as Mars' hits "I Can Buy Myself Flowers" and "I Can Hold Your Hand."

Flowers comes two years after she announced her divorce from actor Liam Hemsworth. The couple had only been married for a year, but had been together for a decade.

The message about empowerment in Flowers goes beyond the lyrics. Cyrus also uses fashion to express that she considers herself successful.

As a Twitter thread points out, in the music video, she opens the song wearing a golden Saint Laurent creation from 1992, the year she was born.

She then dives into a pool and exercises in black underwear as an apparent metaphor for feeling strong.
