Brooke Shields is speaking out for the first time about the sexual abuse she faced in her early 20s.

Brooke shares her story in Lana Wilson's new 2 part documentary Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields, which premieres January 20, at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival.

Although Shields did not identify her assailant on film, she confirmed that it was someone she knew and was friendly with.

"This is the first time I've ever talked about what happened," Shields said, breaking into tears as she told her story.

At the time of the assault happened, the child star was away from the limelight to resume her acting career after attending Princeton University.

But her re-entry into Hollywood made more difficult than expected. It was then that his assailant arrived first.

"I heard there was a movie being made, and I was thinking," Brooke recalled in the film."This was the first time any interest had been expressed since college.

During the incident, Brooke says she "disassociated" herself from her body, an experience she had earlier in her career on the set of the 1981 Franco Zeffirelli film Endless Love.

While filming a love scene for that romance, Shields - who was 15 when the film was shot - recalls the late Italian director grabbing her toe and capturing it as "ecstasy".

According to Brooke, she later confronted her assaulter in a letter instead of discussing the incident publicly.
