The term "nips" is believed to have originated from the word "Nippon," which means Japan in Japanese.

However, the term has also been used as an ethnic slur against Japanese people, particularly during World War II. "Nips" can also be a slang term for "nipples."

In response, Curtis issued an apology on air the following day and explained that he had misspoken, intending to refer to the American actress Mila Kunis instead of Kimes.
