Stone shared that the family court system's judgment of her parenting was unfairly influenced by her on-screen work.

She was asked by the judge, "Do you know your mother makes sex movies?" in front of her son at the time of a custody hearing.

Despite the fact that Stone's brief nudity in the film was tame compared to what is now shown on regular television, she lost custody of her child, Roan.

The couple adopted Roan in 2000 and split in 2003, with Bronstein ultimately being granted primary custody of their son.

Stone had sought full custody, but the judge denied her request, citing concerns over her reaction to Roan's health issues.

Despite the judge's ruling, Stone has always been vocal about her love for her children and her commitment to being a devoted mother.
